There has been a big buzz about people switching from their old shampoos and utilizing the organic shampoos that don’t contain sulfates. However, what’s the fuss about sulfates, and really should everyone really switch to shampoos without sulfates? If so, why? Lots of people are asking these questions, because there are still a lot of the same mainstream shampoos which are offered today. There are still a number of individuals who are still using the shampoos that are said to have sulfates. In this post I will attempt to answer these questions and expose the real truth about sulfates and why it is worth it to change your back from the shampoo you are using today and begin utilizing shampoos without sulfates.

What are sulfates?

Sulfates are surfactants. In the easier definition, sulfates are what cause the shampoos that we use to make such thick lather and create lots of bubbles. Because of many shampoo commercials, we now have learned to consider and believe that if our shampoo creates a thick lather and creates lots of bubbles, it is cleaning our hair greatly performing a very good job. However, that’s not true. The lather may feel good and look nice, but we don’t need to make a lather whenever we wash our hair. Also, have you every tried having shampoo on your own eyes by accident? It stung, right? That’s also due to the sulfates that are in it. If you will notice, baby shampoos don’t sting, even if they get into the child’s. That is because baby shampoos are usually sulfate free shampoos. They are safe for babies because they do not hurt the eyes.

Why you must start using shampoos without sulfates

The first reason why you should start using shampoos without sulfates is always that sulfates cause excessive dryness towards the scalp. You may think that you don’t want oily hair anyway, so why bother switch? The thing is that the scalp, our hair, must retain its natural moisture through the natural oils that the scalp produces. Exactly what sulfates do is that they strip our scalp for essential oils that we absolutely need in order to have shiny, healthy hair.

One other reason why you must begin using paraben free shampoo is that they may cause allergies and negative reactions that could damage the scalp. When you have sensitive skin, you should think about utilizing an all natural shampoo this time. There are individuals who have complained about allergies that the shampoos have caused. It may cause severe itchiness, which is really irritating, since you will be always scratching your hair.

Also, sulfates also have the tendency to strip your hair of color. It is okay if the hair has natural color. But when you have dyed your own hair, using a shampoo that contains sulfates can be disadvantageous for you simply because you are going to have to have your own hair re-dyed more regularly, that may be very impractical.
